Folk Festival

Saturday, we went to a Folk Festival and dance compeition in Old Town. We saw Belarussian, Turkish, and Asian dancers. There was also a dance compeition where the dancers danced traditional Polish dances including of course thhe Polka!!! The girls loved watching the little girls twirl around in their fluffy dresses. Above, is the Belarussian dancers and singers. They danced, played drums, sword fought and did a traditional dance where two men hold up two women and spin them around as fast as they can. (They were going so fast the picture did not turn out.) This is always a crowd pleaser. How many little girls can say they saw dances from four different countries in one single night! We returned home very late, but it was well worth it!!

I wish I could have seen something like that. I saw a PBS special about Poland that showed all the beautiful folk dancers and costumes. Of course, I could have bought one for a few thousand zlotys!
